AJ Bunker opens up on ‘rift’ amongst Love Islanders after birthday party snub

AJ Bunker has revealed a “rift” between some of the Love Island stars has formed since the finale wrapped earlier this year.

Love Island beauty AJ, who turned 29 recently, revealed she feels there is a “divide” between the finalists and the other Islanders.

AJ explained she had invited her reality show pals to celebrate her and fellow Islander Amy Day’s birthday over the weekend but didn’t receive a response from some.

The stunning reality star made the revelation in an exclusive chat with OK! ahead of her pantomime appearance in Snow White and the Seven Merry Men in Soho, London.

Speaking of the friendships she has kept since her time in the villa, AJ said: “I’ve got a really close bond with Amy and Rachel, which has been amazing because they went in as bombshell girls as well. Lillie is incredibly as well, obviously she lives in Newcastle. Other than that I think… They’ve not been that great the Love Islanders.

“Actually, in fact I invited everyone to mine and Amy’s party the other day and got completely aired, so you know when you’re like: ‘Oh great’,” she said.

AJ, who is appearing in the pantomime alongside Big Brother’sSimon Gross, added: “I think everyone’s just busy, but to take time to – even if you can’t make it – to say: ‘Have a good night, happy birthday’. But, yeah, I think that’s one thing we’ve all gone through the same experience and it’s crazy. I think you just form bonds with the people you see out and you want to make time with.

“But, I’m someone that’s always gonna be nice to everybody so I’d never air anyone,” she insisted.

Speaking about who responded to her birthday party invite, AJ added: “I think only a couple of people messaged me privately to say: ‘Can’t make it, hope you have a good one’, but the majority just ignored it!”

When asked if she thinks there is a divide between the finalists and the rest of the Islanders, AJ revealed: “Yeah I think there is, it’s just because you don’t see them much. I don’t know if it’s because they’re couples and they’re so happy in their couples that they’re concentrating or have got a stronger bond.

“But I feel there’s definitely a bit of a rift,” AJ explained.

Millie Court and Liam Reardon won the series as Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickhank,Faye Winter and Teddy Soares and Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran made it to the final. All four couples are still together.

AJ explained she felt there shouldn’t be a divide as they all shared a life changing experience together.

She added: “We’ve all gone through the same experience so it shouldn’t feel like that but I personally do think there is a bit of that divide.

“It’s crazy but I guess they made it to the end and they’ve got their relationships to focus on so, you don’t know if they think they’re… I don’t know – not superior but in that league than someone that left earlier or whether it’s a situation or if they are just busy.

“But you definitely don’t see them as much and you don’t hear from people as much so… Which you think you would’ve been close with after leaving. So there’s a bit of a divide I’d say.”

Since leaving the villa AJ has begun to branch out on exciting new showbiz opportunities, including taking part in the Snow White and The Seven Merry Men adult pantomime in the West End for a one-off appearance on Monday 13 December.
