This Morning’s Alison Hammond has described hosting the daytime TV show as “amazing”, but that the early mornings are “tough”.
Alison hosts the Friday edition of the show alongside TV presenting veteran Dermot O’Leary— someone she now describes as her “mate”.
The 46 year old told OK! while on the red carpet for the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards: “[Things with the show are going] amazing. I’ve been loving it. It’s tough coming in, but when you’ve got a lovely presenter like Dermot — I mean, I actually look forward to it now.”
When asked if she’d describe her and Dermot as being best friends now, Alison laughed and said that while she considers her co-host as her “mate”, her real best friend is her 16 year old son, Aiden, who was in attendance with her at the event held Saturday 30 October.
Speaking about bringing Aiden to his first awards ceremony, Alison said: “I thought of all the award ceremonies, Pride of Britain is the one I wanted to bring [my son] to.”
“I tried to make him wear a tie but he wasn’t having it,” she added.

Sources have recently said that This Morning producers may be eyeing up Alison and Dermot to replace Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to take over hosting the show full-time.
An insider told The Sun: “There are no firm plans to replace the hosts but producers always keep an eye on potential heirs.
“Alison and Dermot will have been scrutinised during their week-long stint to see how This Morning would look if they took over full-time. And the verdict was very favourable.”
“They are very much viewed as a breath of fresh air and have had a largely positive response from viewers,” the source added.
Alison and Dermot took over from Ruth Langford and Eamonn Holmes in hosting This Morning on a Friday back in January.
The pair have a hilarious rapport, with Alison going as far as calling her co-host out for allegedly stealing her lines.
Speaking about her frustrations of working with Dermot sometimes, the ex-Big Brother star explained: “It’s the little things, nothing major. For example, he steals my lines and he doesn’t keep up to speed with my life on Instagram even though we host a show together!”
