NTAs: Mollie Gallagher wins Serial Drama Performance award in September

Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher looked unrecognisable as she enjoyed a break away from our screens in Greece.

Mollie is known for her role as character Nina Lucas on the popular ITV soap opera – as well as her trademark goth make-up preference – but she enjoyed going make-up free while on holiday in Crete.

The 24-year-old shared photos from her trip to the Mediterranean Island on her Instagram account to her 98,300 followers, with one snap showing her wearing a leopard print halter neck crop top and black midi skirt.

Mollie finished the outfit with chunky black sandals and garnered a lot of praise on her post, which she captioned: “Crete” followed with a red lips emoji.

Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan on the cobbles, teased her co-star after appearing to catch the sun more than hoped, saying: “We need some factor 50 over here plz [sic]”.

Mollie replied: “HAHAH I still need even more.”

Another followed wrote: “Looking stunning Mollie. Hope you are well. I am still loving you as Nina. Keep up the great work.”

A third commented: “You are so very beautiful”, accompanied with two love heart eyes emojis.

Last September at the National Television Awards, Mollie won the award for Best Serial Performance after her character Nina was embroiled in a horrific storyline which saw her on-screen boyfriend murdered.

Seb Franklin, played by Harry Visinoni, was killed in May last year after Nina was targeted for being a goth.

The storyline is based on the tragic murder of Sophie Lancaster in 2007, which saw the 20-year-old and her boyfriend attacked by a gang of five boys in a park in Lancashire.

Sophie died of her severe head injuries thirteen days later, while her boyfriend had suffered with brain damage and struggled with depression followed by the attack.

After collecting the accolade on stage, Mollie said: “I absolutely can’t believe this. Honestly, I’m absolutely speechless.”

She added: “A massive thank you to Corrie, Iain MacLeod, casting, you’ve made all of my dreams come true.

“And obviously the storyline has been an amazing storyline to tell, lots of awareness has been made.

“We worked closely with the Sophie Lancaster charity, and Sylvia is the most inspiring woman. She’s brilliant.”

She ended her speech by adding: “I just want to dedicate this award to anybody who feels like they don’t fit the mould or they feel like they don’t belong. You’re amazing.”
