Anti-vaxxers are harassing children with ‘appalling’ abuse as they wait in line to get their coronavirus vaccinations.
Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan denounced the intimidation and bullying by anti-vaccine protesters trying to scare schoolkids out of getting the jab.
‘There have been recent reports of adults turning up at clinics to harass young students waiting to be vaccinated – screaming disproven nonsense to try to intimidate them,’ he said.
‘There have been countless incidents like these right across the country. It’s just not acceptable behavior.’

Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said his staff have been threatened with rape and death over the state’s mandatory vaccination policy
Anti-vaxxers are ramping up their harassment campaign in WA, even making death and rape threats levelled at Mr McGowan and his staff, forcing him to close his electorate office.
A man was even allegedly planning on dumping a tank outside the building, with four officers needed to restrain him outside his Camden Way home.
‘My local office in Rockingham has been forced to close indefinitely, due to serious and ongoing threats towards my staff there,’ the premier said.
‘People in all workplaces have a right to go to work safely – there is no justification for making personal threats of violence against people who are just doing their jobs or accessing health services or just going about their business.’
He also revealed a journalist at the West Australian received abuse from anti-vaxxers after speaking with a doctor to ‘dispute an unproven claim’ made by the extremists.
‘The science is clear. The facts are clear. The vaccines are safe and they are effective at reducing the spread and impact of Covid-19. They will save thousands of West Aussies’ lives in the coming years,’ he posted to Facebook.
‘It’s just heartening to know that the vast, vast majority of people are doing the right thing to protect themselves, their families, and our community.’

Mr McGowan also referenced the anti-vaccine rallies in Melbourne, particularly those aimed at Victorian Premier Dan Andrews, after a gallows was rolled outside Parliament House in Melbourne and an effigy of the Labor leader hanged.
‘The behavior there of some conspiracy theorists, extremists and neo-Nazis – going so far as to display nooses and gallows and chant death threats – was simply vile,’ he said.
‘Unfortunately, it is just the tip of the iceberg of what has been happening around the country, and here in WA, in the last few months.
‘There is no problem with peaceful protests – they are an important part of our democracy. But personal threats of harm, violence, or death have no place in our society.
‘To see such a small proportion of the population embark on such a serious campaign of harassment and intimidation is appalling.
‘It has to stop.’
