Veteran AFL journalist Caroline Wilson has offered an replace on Richmond celebrity Dustin Martin following his prolonged time away from the sport because of private causes.
The three-time Norm Smith medallist appeared in Richmond’s opening spherical loss to Carlton earlier than he was granted private depart for what was considered solely a brief interval away from the membership.
Despite earlier experiences suggesting Martin could possibly be making ready to retire prematurely, Wilson was optimistic the 30-year-old can be again in a Tigers jumper shortly.
“Dustin Martin has been in Sydney for a little while, he’s now back in Melbourne and it’s as strong as I’ve heard that there’s a very good chance he’ll be back training over the next week,” she advised Nine’s Footy Classified.
“I can’t confirm it but that’s what I believe is a strong chance.”
On Thursday he encouragingly stated Martin appeared in a greater headspace of late.
“We’re reluctant to provide a running commentary but what we do know is he’s in a better space,” he stated.
“When we know more we certainly will give you guys more information but at this stage it’s the same as it has been.”
