Mohamed Salah bursts out laughing at Ballon d’Or question after Liverpool rout

Mohamed Salah could not help but burst out laughing after being asked about his controversial Ballon d’Or placing.

Having scored twice in Liverpool’s 4-1 thumping of Everton on Wednesday night, Salah once again stated his credentials as one of the hottest talents on the planet right now.

However, during Monday’s Ballon d’Or awards, the Egyptian finished down in seventh place as the best players in the world were ranked.

Salah’s lowly position, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and N’Golo Kante, surprised many after his incredible start to the season.

But when pushed for his take, Salah showed his humbleness by simply laughing and refusing to comment.

When asked if he was hoping to win the award next year, he told Amazon Prime with a chuckle: “I have no comment. Hopefully [higher than this year], winner or not.”

After scooping his seventh Ballon d’Or win, Lionel Messi admitted that he believed Salah would have the chance to win a Golden Ball eventually.

“I don’t know if the record is beatable,” he said after collecting the award. “I just have to accept it but I’m not sure if it can be beaten.
