Strictly Come Dancing duo Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice were all smiles as they posed for photos outside the BBC studios hours after learning about their incredible award win
Strictly Come Dancing ’s Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice couldn’t hide their smiles after they were spotted leaving the BBC studios together after winning an award for their emotional dance on the show.
The duo wrapped their arms around each other and posed for photos following an evening appearance on spin off show It Takes Two.
The fan favourites brought viewers to tears with their show-stopping Couples’ Choice dance last month to Clean Bandit’s hit Symphony, and blew viewers away with a special moment during the dance.
EastEnders actress Rose, who is the first deaf contestant in Strictly history, left the judges in tears as she and Giovanni danced for 10 seconds in silence, in honour of the deaf community.
They said they wanted to highlight just what Rose – and millions of other deaf people – face every day, and she was praised for bravely letting viewers into her world.
The beautifully poignant moment was crowned Heat magazine’s TV Moment of the Year, and a jubilant Rose and Giovanni were spotted leaving the It Takes Two studios just hours after winning.
The 27-year-old actress looked relaxed as she cuddled up to dance pro Giovanni outside the studio doors, and was wrapped up warm to face the chilly weather as she rocked a bronze puffer jacket and a grey hoodie underneath.
Still wearing make-up from his appearance on It Takes Two, Giovanni cosied up to Rose as they smiled for the waiting cameras, wearing an all-black outfit complimented by a designer holdall slung over his shoulder.
The 31-year-old Italian dancer took to Instagram to thank Heat for awarding him and Rose the coveted gong, alongside a picture of him and Rose looking surprised.
“TV MOMENT OF THE YEAR. Thank you so much to @heatworld for this award, we are very grateful,” Giovanni wrote.
“This dance meant so much to us and we are so proud that we could show a glimpse into Rose’s world and represent the deaf community in this way.
“We will both remember this ‘unmissable moment’ forever,” the Strictly hunk added.
Heat had chosen to honour Rose and Giovanni for their ‘breathtaking’ dance which they said left them, and millions of viewers, in tears.
His followers were quick to congratulate the couple on their win, with one commenting: “I still can’t watch this without crying my eyes out. It’s TV history.”
“Yep. That! totally deserved,” former Strictly winner Ore Oduba wrote.
“So well deserved, an inspirational moment,” one fan added, as another wrote: “Well done guys! Loving your partnership. You are both amazing and I love how you are empowering the deaf community.”
